ABOUT

 

The facilities, located in Howard and DePere, are 8,500 sq.ft. state-licensed secured buildings.  We provide a safe, enjoyable, and quality early childhood education experience with a capacity for 124 children. Step Ahead Childcare Center offers childcare services for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old.  Our hours of operation are from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, year round except for designated holidays.  The facilities boast full size kitchens for preparing breakfast, lunch, and snack items daily.

 

Step Ahead Childcare Center has the capacity for the following in each of our locations:

 

            o          16 six week to one year old children

            o          16 one year old to two year old children

            o          16 two year old to three year old children

            o          20 three year old to four year old children

            o          24 four year old to five year old children

            o          32 five year old to 13 year old children

 

 

Step Ahead Childcare Center will act in partnership with the families of the children in our care in the process of raising independent and responsible children.  We will provide the necessary tools and materials along with state certified, caring teachers.  We will be dedicated to enhancing the intellectual, emotional, physical and social skills of the children in our care and prepare them for an easier transition into elementary school.

Step Ahead Childcare Center offers:

 

  • a secure, key-coded locked entrance

 

  • freshly prepared and nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks

 

  • field trips throughout the year and during summer months for children to enjoy valuable learning experiences at many different venues

 

            o     via Lamers Bus Lines, Inc and company vehicles

            o     a nominal fee is charged to cover the cost of

                   child’s admission and transportation

 

  • before and after school programs with transportation to and from select elementary schools

 

            o     provides a less rigorous routine where children will enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere to study, learn, and play

 

Step Ahead Childcare Center can make it easy for parents to save money and eliminate worries of not having tuition payments in on time by offering pre-tax dollar payroll deduction service (if offered by your company) and automatic withdrawl services from a credit card or band account. Step Ahead Childcare Center will also give tuition discounts for customer referrals and for paying weekly tuition early.

​Our Staff



Step Ahead prides itself on the quality of our teaching staff.  We hire teachers who possess a variety of degrees and certificates.

 

All teachers are trained in CPR, Abusive Head Trauma, Child Abuse and Neglect and SIDS.

 

Teachers are also required to take continuing education each year.  This continuing education focuses on trends in the classroom, differing needs of children, classroom management, lesson planning, Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards and cultural differences, among many others.
